Cautionary tale?

Here’s a story of an American kid who did well at an elite summer basketball camp, got offered a scholarship to Kentucky and then had it all go sideways. Three years later, he is back at his original school but unable to play due to a rule that limits the number of out of state school transfers you can make. He’s from California but went to a $35K/year basketball prep school in Florida…until dad’s accounting business took a downturn.

Now he’s persona non gratis at Kentucky and can’t even play high school ball. He’s still only in Grade 11.

We talk about being willing to pay big bucks and drive across town for certain coaches but it doesn’t always pan out the way you think it will.

Will it ever get like this for soccer in Canada?
