Valdes enters the Schumacher zone

I love Carlos Puyol but this quote, given the video below, is an eyebrow raiser. Just the opening frame of the youtube video below gives you a good idea of how it’s all going to end. See the ball anywhere? No, neither do I.

Not only did Barcelona keeper do a stellar impersonation of Harold Schumacher’s evisceration of French striker Battiston in the 1982 World Cup semi final but he went one better. While no foul was called on Schumacher, after he knocked Battiston out along with a few teeth and cracked a couple of vertabrae, Valdes somehow ended up with a free kick IN HIS FAVOUR. No, it’s true.
